Remarkably yes! Online EMDR works!
EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) is an evidence-based treatment for trauma, anxiety and excessive worry. It works well in person or through a computer screen. Online EMDR is effective and the results are lasting. Many of my clients use their cell phones to engage in treatment. They still have great results! They appreciate the added freedom this change has allowed them.
I initially moved to online counselling to support my clients during the COVID lockdown. Many decided to continue this way. They appreciate the added flexibility online contact allows them.
Now my clients receive EMDR treatment during their lunch breaks while at work. Clients engage while at home if they are ill, working from home, or in quarantine. They like the ease of treatment without having to drive or bus to an office. I am happily surprised by the effectiveness of online EMDR treatment.
The COVID pandemic has dismantled our traditional way of connecting with professionals of all sorts. Moving to Zoom or FaceTime makes sense. It has surprising and appreciated benefits.
